 The Friends of the RUH hold a book sale in the Atrium on the first Monday of the month - come along and pick up a bargain book all the money raised goes towards purchasing patient emergency packs. 

Sunday 5th September - Bath Cats and Dogs Home will be holding their annual Open Day, the biggest fundraising event of the year at their Claverton Down site. Staff at the Home hope that you will all be able to join them for this action packed day of fun and entertainment, with exciting demonstrations, craft stalls, games, activities and great food there really is something to keep the whole family occupied all day! This year a full day of attractions will include informative talks in the ever popular Shrink Think Tank, market stalls, dog shows, an exciting auction brimming with furniture and collectables and a demonstration ring hosting a wide range of thrilling displays from Police dogs to dancing dogs! There will also be a tea room offering refreshments, a BBQ, a swing and jazz band and a Kids Zone with inflatables, games and a puppet show!

Please come along with your canine companion and help Bath Cats and Dogs Home to continue caring for animals and help to beat last year’s outstanding success!

Friday 17th September -Saturday 25th September - The Jane Austen Festival A selection of events taking place to celebrate the life and work of Jane Austen including Europe's largest Regency costumed Promenade where a multitude of people will be parading along the grand Georgian terraces of 18th Century Bath in costume of the period. Some of the attractions include Small soirees, theatre, concerts, walking tours, food, talks and of course dancing plus the opportunity to dress throughout the week, if you wish, in 18th century costume.


Sunday 19th September - The 17th annual Memory Trail organised by RICE – The Research Institute for the Care of Older People, who have been helping people battle dementia for 25 years by researching effective treatments and diagnoses, and supporting carers and families.

Routes of 8, 5 or 3 miles take you through the countryside around the pretty village of Wellow. Refreshments available at the Fox and Badger Inn or picnic at one of the peaceful spots along the way; water and walk advice available en route.

Starting point is Wellow Village Hall from 9.30am and free car parking is available. Participants pay an entry fee and can raise sponsorship, with a prize for the highest total.

Friday 24th September - Sunday 3rd October - Bath Festival of Children’s Literature 2010 features some of the best authors, illustrators and storytellers around – ranging from the Children’s Laureate Anthony Browne to world-famous choreographer and star judge Arlene Phillips to an event with Ben10!

The ten day Festival is packed full of events for all the family – highlights include award-winning graphic novel illustrator Dave McKean, bestselling Kay Woodward with her inspirational book Skate School, Fast Show star and TV comedian Charlie Higson debating the qualities of Zombies Vs Vampires, as well as no less than three of the five former Children’s Laureates: Michael Morpurgo, Anne Fine and Michael Rosen. The Festival will also be helping to celebrate seventy spectacular years of Puffin books as the hilarious Jeremy Strong hosts the Big Puffin Prize Book Quiz - guaranteed fun for all the family!

This year sees the first ever Writer-in-Residence at the Festival with Julia Green, author of Breathing Underwater and Drawing with Light and Bath Spa University Course Director.

Saturday 16th -Saturday 23rd October - Bach Festivals have been taking place at intervals in Bath for 50 years. The Festival is organised and promoted by the Chantry Singers, one of the leading small choirs in the South West.


For 2010, the artists will include Catherine Bott, Florilegium, James Gilchrist, Dame Emma Kirkby, Dame Gillian Weir and the Academy of Ancient Music. The Academy of Ancient Music will be playing the complete Brandenburg cycle of 6 Concerti.
